I was once in the same position and decided to seek help from a professional counsellor. It had a profound effect on me and sowed the seeds of my decision to train to become a counsellor myself.

I love my work, and I hold deeply the value of truly being present with you and the work we are doing together. A healthy counselling relationship builds a safe and secure foundation for the work whilst also presenting challenge and opportunity for insight and growth.

"There came a time when the risk to remain tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom"

- Anais Nin

I work relationally which means that our therapy relationship is fundamentally important in you making any changes. I believe change happens once we are able to accept ourselves as we are.

I draw on many years of training and experience in my Counselling and Psychotherapy work, including:

  • Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy (TA) can help us to gain understanding of ourselves in relationships with others and highlight why we think, feel and act the way we do.
  • I am specifically accredited as a Trauma Informed Practitioner. I recognise that trauma and the resultant stress has lasting effects upon the nervous system, which produce states of hyper alertness, control, anxiety or outright panic. Research shows that trauma may also be inherited. When I’m working with trauma, I use various tools and techniques to calm this over activity of the nervous system.
  • Bereavement Counselling. Losing a loved one can be truly devastating. You may be suffering a mix of feelings like anger, anxiety, numbness and disbelief. Counselling will offer you a supportive space to talk about and process your grief and loss.
  • Creative Therapy offers a safe and gentle way of exploring and processing difficult or traumatic experiences.
  • Body Awareness. Evidence shows that all of our life experiences are stored in our bodies. Focus on the body in therapy, sensations, feelings and movements can helps us to release limiting patterns.
  • Mindfulness Awareness offers a way of "being" in a world which rewards "doing".

I work with Individuals, Couples and Groups, specialising in:

  • Anxiety / Stress
  • Generalised Anxiety Disorder
  • Depression
  • Panic Attacks
  • Stress Burnout
  • Trauma
  • Relationship Issues
  • Separation / Divorce
  • Addictions
  • Eating Disorders
  • Family Issues
  • Bereavement
  • Grief / Sadness / Feeling Sad
  • Low Self Confidence
  • Low Self Esteem
  • Phobias
  • Post Natal Depression
  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

I also run various focused small groups, including:

  • Creative Groups
  • Transactional Analysis Groups
  • Mindfulness Groups

I’m currently recruiting for a weekly group that will be focused on relationships and healthy communication.

I am a clinical supervisor. I work with healthcare professionals from many disciplines such as nursing, teaching, management, coaching, as well as counsellors and psychotherapists.
